Binomial law

In probability theory and statistics, the binomial distribution is the discrete probability distribution of the number of successes in a sequence of n independent yes/no experiments, each of which yields success with probability p.

If X is the number of individuals that have the studied property (e.g. positive events) in a n size sample, then X follows a binomial law, B(n,pi). There are several confidence intervals for pi.

Software are provided by the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA), which can be used to design seed testing plans for purity/impurity characteristics.
